@JetHL what happens if you put history server in maintenance mode? Can you proceed?

Facing the same issue. Ambari - 2.2.1.1, HDP - 2.3.4.7.

History server cannot be started. When we check the logs, we see

resource_management.core.exceptions.Fail: Execution of 'curl -sS -L -w '%{http_code}' -X PUT -T /usr/hdp/2.3.4.7-4/hadoop/mapreduce.tar.gz 'http://url:50070/webhdfs/v1/hdp/apps/2.3.4.7-4/mapreduce/mapreduce.tar.gz?op=CREATE&user.name=hdfs&overwrite=True&permission=444'' returned status_code=500. { "RemoteException": { "exception": "UndeclaredThrowableException", "javaClassName": "java.lang.reflect.UndeclaredThrowableException", "message": null } }

We tried something more to explore to get more details:

Command: curl -X GET http://url:50070/webhdfs/v1/hdp/apps/2.3.4.7-4/mapreduce?op=GETFILESTATUS&user.name=hdfs

output: {"FileStatus {"accessTime":0,"blockSize":0,"childrenNum":0,"fileId":16402,"group":"hdfs","length":0,"modificationTime":1462222797728,"owner":"hdfs","pathSuffix":"","permission":"555","replication":0,"storagePolicy":0,"type":"DIRECTORY"}}

When the file is put in the namenode, its exception….

Command: curl -X PUT -T /usr/hdp/2.3.4.7-4/hadoop/mapreduce.tar.gz 'http://url:50070/webhdfs/v1/hdp/apps/2.3.4.7-4/mapreduce/mapreduce.tar.gz?op=CREATE&user.name=hdfs&overwrite=True&permission=444'

output: {"RemoteException":{"exception":"UndeclaredThrowableException","javaClassName":"java.lang.reflect.UndeclaredThrowableException","message":null}}

But, we can list that file:

Command: ls /usr/hdp/2.3.4.7-4/hadoop/mapreduce.tar.gz

output: /usr/hdp/2.3.4.7-4/hadoop/mapreduce.tar.gz

was this issue resolved yet?

@JetHL

leave it in maintenance mode and start other services. SeeMs like a common problem. There may be a bug. In that case we need to wait for Ambari 2.2.1. History server is not essential as much as other services.

Not so common. I have successfully deployed HDP 2.3.4 using Ambari 2.2 on single node. I did not face any problem.

@Rahul Pathak I meant someone else on HCC had the same issue.

@JetHL

I believe there is another thread on the same issue opened by you.

Do you have access to support? I highly recommend to open a ticket to address this. In the meantime, I will reach out to folks interannly to get more idea on this.

'http://hadoop.core:50070/webhdfs/v1/hdp/apps/2.3.4.0-3485/mapreduce/mapreduce.tar.gz?op=CREATE&user.name=hdfs&overwrite=True&permission=444'' returned status_code=500.

    "message": null

}

@JetHL are you still having issues with this? Can you accept the best answer or provide your own solution?
