Hive Insert statement running for long time with no end

Hive Insert statement running for long time with no end

Explorer

Am trying to insert a single record into hive text table. It is running for long time with no output. Ran it in Hive CLI mode.

insert into table table2 select * from table1; - both are of same structure.

Total jobs = 3 Launching Job 1 out of 3 Number of reduce tasks is set to 0 since there's no reduce operator Starting Job = job_xxx,

Tracking URL = xxx

Kill Command = xxx

After this nothing is coming up. There is no response after the kill command. Even with empty record it is running for long time.

@Ram

Can you provide an error message in hive log?

find hive logs at /var/log/hive/

Could see only /var/log and it has no hive folder in it.

Even hive-site.xml has no log path. Should the developer has to create it ? If so, how?

If you launch Hive CLI, maybe you can try to get more information by setting this command in debug mode:

hive --hiveconf hive.root.logger=DEBUG,console
