At what stage did you get that error? Had you already executed the rest? HostCleanup.py is delivered by ambari rpm that could mean you dont have ambari package installed.

Can you validate

# rpm -qa | grep ambari-server

If that is the case then you either first re-install ambari

# yum install -y ambari-server

The other steps should be clear otherwise if you have a small cluster re-installation using puppet or ansible is quicker

I have removed ambari server and ambari agent using

yum remove ambari-server ambari-agent -y

but still by running below command I can see as below

rpm -qa | grep ambari

ambari-metrics-collector-2.4.3.0-30.x86_64
ambari-metrics-hadoop-sink-2.4.3.0-30.x86_64
ambari-infra-solr-client-2.4.3.0-30.x86_64
ambari-metrics-grafana-2.4.3.0-30.x86_64
ambari-infra-solr-2.4.3.0-30.x86_64
ambari-metrics-monitor-2.4.3.0-30.x86_64

Hi Geoffrey,

Thanks a lot. I reinstalled and installed again. it worked.

this time when I deploy services, it failed at App Timeline Server Install step as below.

this is the error.

raise Fail("Unable to query for supported packages using {0}".format(stack_selector_path))
resource_management.core.exceptions.Fail: Unable to query for supported packages using /usr/bin/hdp-select

Help me to resolve this.

Can you share the output of

$ hostname -f

and the contents of the ambari-agent.ini

[server]

You should have equally removed

ambari-metrics-collector-2.4.3.0-30.x86_64
ambari-metrics-hadoop-sink-2.4.3.0-30.x86_64
ambari-infra-solr-client-2.4.3.0-30.x86_64

I think this is the error.

raise Fail("Unable to query for supported packages using {0}".format(stack_selector_path))
resource_management.core.exceptions.Fail: Unable to query for supported packages using /usr/bin/hdp-select

Re: Host Registration with server failed on Ambari when selected manual registration

@subramanyam sibbala

Can you check that the timeline server is available

# /usr/bin/hdp-select | grep hadoop-yarn

If not please ensure the hadoop-yarn* components are installed

What's the output of the below command?

# /usr/bin/hdp-select

Do you see any version variations in the packages?
