I have installed the Oracle VM Box and Horton Sandbox HDP 2.3.2 in my windows 8.1 laptop. Install went ok with no issue. But, when I enter http://127.0.0.1:8888, I am getting connection timeout error and not getting the Horton page. Any help, greatly appreciated. I see the same ip address in port forward box.
I looked at this article before posting https://community.hortonworks.com/articles/6227/sandbox-1270018080-not-accessible.html didn't help either

Try Promiscuous mode - Allow.
What is your ipconfig -a output?
Did you try using that ip instead of 127.0.0.1?
Try Disabling your firewall also.
Finally Try changing the Network Adapter settings to Bridged Adapter, which will generate a whole new <ip-address>.

In my case, I have adpater 1 as NAT and it's working fine.

@Raja I believe NAT1 fixed the issue.

@Neeraj Sabharwal @Ancil McBarnett Thank you both. I switched adapter1 to NA1 and turned off the firewall. It worked. I turned on firewall back again and still it works. So, i believe it's network setting. Thank you. Let me play around with the tools. I am a new to Haddop.

Hi, I faced similar issue on virtualBox. Had to select the option Cable Connected to make it work.

I have this same problem, I've tried all the different connections in Network and nothing seems to make any difference, tried toggling the Cable Connected option, but all to no avail, nothing I can find on the web seems to work, i just get:
127.0.0.1.8888’s server DNS address could not be found.
