I have installed Ubuntu 17.10 on desktop, I have added the repository by giving,
wget -O /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ambari.list http://public-repo-1.hortonworks.com/ambari/ubuntu16/2.x/updates/184.108.40.206/ambari.list apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com B9733A7A07513CAD
it was added successfully, however when i try to apt-get update it is throwing the following error,
W: GPG error: http://public-repo-1.hortonworks.com/ambari/ubuntu16/2.x/updates/220.127.116.11 Ambari InRelease: The following signatures were invalid: DF52ED4F7A3A5882C0994C66B9733A7A07513CAD E: The repository 'http://public-repo-1.hortonworks.com/ambari/ubuntu16/2.x/updates/18.104.22.168 Ambari InRelease' is not signed. N: Updating from such a repository can't be done securely, and is therefore disabled by default. N: See apt-secure(8) manpage for repository creation and user configuration details.
It will be great if anybody helps to resolve,
Note: i want to install ambari on ubuntu 17 because of its cool features & performance and not ubuntu 16
By any chance are you running any HTTP proxy on your Ubuntu host? If yes, then you should also supply the proxy options something like following:
In addition to my previous commend i would like to also add that Ubuntu 17 is not listed in the Supported Operating System for Ambari.
@Jay Kumar SenSharma
Hi Jay Kumar,
1. I am not using any proxy server, I have full access to the internet
2. My understanding is if Ubuntu being a supported OS for Ambari, then ideally it should work any Ubuntu version 16 or above
It is weired that it supports only specific version of Ubuntu, Recently Ubuntu has release Ubuntu 17.10 with cool features, hence I want to use this version
Any other solutions from others to solve the issue?
As Ubuntu 17 is not listed in the Supported Operating System list , hence i tested the same on Ubuntu 16 and it works fine:

My Ubuntu details:
root@jubuntu:~# lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available. Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description: Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS Release: 16.04 Codename: xenial
May be you can try taking a backup of the "/var/lib/apt/lists/*" directory and then try again:
# sudo mv /etc/apt/sources.list /etc/apt/sources.list.bak # sudo rm -rf /var/lib/apt/lists/* # sudo apt-get update
I too installed on Ubuntu 16. Even I tried in LinuxMint 18.2 and successfully added the repo, key, updated the repo, and installed the server, but while configuring the ambari setup I encountered the issue. If this is being the case I should not have any issue in Ubuntu 17, As it is supported OS but only higher version
