I have upgraded Ambari to 2.1.0 and HDP to 2.2.6, now I want to manage Kafka using Ambari as it was not managed by Ambari in Ambari1.5.1. How to add Kafka service to Ambari?

you can go to Add services in Ambari. It will be listing Kafka as available service. By default it will show one broker you can click "+" sign next to it add more kafka servers on different hosts.

@schintalapani@hortonworks.com But service already exists in my case, what would be Ambari API call to register this service?

It should not matter to Ambari. During the installation phase, it will have the RPM already there so it will be able to move to the next step. You should make a backup of your configuration file as it will be overwritten.
Do you experience a different behaviour ?
