Hi, I am trying to install cloudera virtual machine in my windows laptop. I downloaded VMware (which is around 4.6 GB). Can you please help me with what should I do next to get that activated and running? Thanks in advance

No - you would need to download the VirtualBox version of the VM and open
the .ovf file with "File -> Import Appliance..."

You need to unzip what you downloaded, and then open the .vmx file in
VMware.

Hi, sorry if this is a dumb question. I am very new to this. I have unzipped all the files and I also see vmx files. Now I should open this file with which application?

VMware Workstation / Player or VMware Fusion (versions that are believed to
work well are documented here:
http://www.cloudera.com/content/www/en-us/documentation/enterprise/latest/topics/cloudera_quickstart...
If you don't have one of these product, you won't be able to run the
QuickStart VM for VMware. You can try them out here:
http://www.vmware.com/products/. Another option is the VirtualBox version
which just requires VirtualBox: https://www.virtualbox.org/.

Thanks for your reply. Does that mean if I install Virtual box, I can open this VMX file with that?
