Hue 3.7 500 Error on Home Page

Hue 3.7 500 Error on Home Page

Contributor

Hi,

I have a cluster with CDH 5.4.0 with Kerberos Enabled and Hue works with LDAP for using the Active Directory Credentials.

When I log in on Hue Home page I have this error:

As "More Info" I have:

Did you upgrade to 5.4 or is this a fresh install? Can you go to other pages, like "/useradmin"?

Hi,

I upgraded to 5.4 (from 5.1.2) and this is the only page where I have problems

Thanks

Three thoughts:

1. Are you using Oracle as the backend? I don't think so or the error would be different.
2. Try logging into the Hue server as root, then doing:

export HUE_CONF_DIR="/var/run/cloudera-scm-agent/process/`ls -1 /var/run/cloudera-scm-agent/process | grep HUE | sort -n | tail -1 `"
/opt/cloudera/parcels/CDH/lib/hue/build/env/bin/hue migrate --merge

3. If none of the above are the case, then go into the Hue DB and run:

use hue;
update oozie_node set data='{}' where data='';
update oozie_job set data='{}' where data='';

Hi,

1. Yes I'm using Oracle as backend

2. I tried to define the HUE_CONF_DIR variable and follow your instructions but it doesn't work

Can I launch the same queries of your point 3 even if I'm using Oracle ?

Thanks

What happens when you run:

2. Try logging into the Hue server as root, then doing:

export HUE_CONF_DIR="/var/run/cloudera-scm-agent/process/`ls -1 /var/run/cloudera-scm-agent/process | grep HUE | sort -n | tail -1 `"
/opt/cloudera/parcels/CDH/lib/hue/build/env/bin/hue migrate --merge

You can run those queries if you're using Oracle, you may need to have an Oracle DBA do it.

Hi,

For point 2:

I export the HUE_CONF_DIR as:

export HUE_CONF_DIR="/var/run/cloudera-scm-agent/process/`ls -1 /var/run/cloudera-scm-agent/process | grep HUE | sort -n | tail -1 `"

so

echo $HUE_CONF_DIR
/var/run/cloudera-scm-agent/process/6513-hue-HUE_SERVER

and this is the output of /opt/cloudera/parcels/CDH/lib/hue/build/env/bin/hue migrate --merge command

Running migrations for useradmin:

I'll try to launch the queries from Oracle DB

Thanks

Re: Hue 3.7 500 Error on Home Page

Are you on the very latest CDH?

We added some fix for Oracle to make the Home page work with Oracle

Re: Hue 3.7 500 Error on Home Page

I am using CDH 5.3.2 and facing the same issue.

If I restart Hue and impala then issue gets resolved.

It is not permanent though.

I am not using Oracle.

I am using mySQL.

Re: Hue 3.7 500 Error on Home Page

Later I saw below error on Hive.

I had to restart hue, hive and Impala. But, I know that it is not going to fix the issue permanently.

File "/opt/cloudera/parcels/CDH-5.3.2-1.cdh5.3.2.p0.10/lib/hue/apps/beeswax/src/beeswax/server/hive_server2_lib.py", line 438, in call

    res = fn(req)

  File "/opt/cloudera/parcels/CDH-5.3.2-1.cdh5.3.2.p0.10/lib/hue/desktop/core/src/desktop/lib/thrift_util.py", line 335, in wrapper

    raise StructuredException('THRIFTSOCKET', str(e), data=None, error_code=502)
