I just tried and it seems to be working fine. Do you use an HTTP
proxy? If so can you set the http_proxy env var and try again?

$ http_proxy=http://host.name:8080/ wget .....

Did a env command and found a value for HOSTNAME=phx-dev101313.chotel.com

so I tried using that and I got something different. See below

[danny_padilla@phx-devl01313 ~]$ http_proxy=http://$HOSTNAME:8080
[danny_padilla@phx-devl01313 ~]$ echo $http_proxy
http://phx-devl01313.chotel.com:8080
[danny_padilla@phx-devl01313 ~]$ export http_proxy
[danny_padilla@phx-devl01313 ~]$ wget http://archive.cloudera.com/cm5/installer/latest/cloudera-manager-installer.bin

Super Collaborator

realize that the host name means the actual "proxy on your network" name.  Not the hostname you are attempting to connect from.

Apparently, after conferring with the Systems Administrator, I am not permitted to download binary files due to security reasons. So what I need to do is download the components (I believe they are called RPM's) of Cloudera Express. I am not sure at this point what that means..so can you point me in the right direction to re-activate existing RPM's..

Thanks

Hello Danny,

Please follow this installation path (which is more recommendable anyway): http://www.cloudera.com/content/cloudera/en/documentation/core/latest/topics/cm_ig_install_path_b.ht...

This method will walk you through setting up yum repos, installing an adequate database, using your OS's package manager to install the Cloudera Management components, and then getting the software running.

Regards,
