I'm a beginner here and this is my first job as Hadoop Admin. I've been asked to do CDH 6.0.0 on RHEL 7 using packages. Use of parcels is not allowed. I've been reading cloudra 6.0.0 documentation but can't find anything regarding installing CDH 6 using packages. I've CM6.0 installed using packages but I'm not able find the RPMs for CDH6. I've already downloaded this
https://archive.cloudera.com/cdh6/6.0.0/redhat7/
I saw something like 1-click from CDH5 but can't find that on CDH6. I also saw this for CDH5
sudo yum --nogpgcheck localinstall cloudera-cdh-5-0.x86_64.rpm
I've also searched this article in the documentation "Manually Install Cloudera Software Packages" but it talk about CM6 but NOT CDH6 manual install using packages.
Can you please advise how to install CD6 using packages?
I thank you in advance for the same.

Hi Beginner,
https://www.cloudera.com/documentation/enterprise/6/6.0/topics/install_cm_cdh.html#cmig_topic_6_6 starts at installing CM.
Then shows you how to login to the CM UI and complete your installation of CDH....there is a page you will get to that you can choose Parcels or Packages.
Hope this helps,
Tina

That doesn't look right. Does that system have connection to the internet? You should see a list of CDH versions to choose from.
Are you installing this for production? Or just a POC?

This is what your page should look like

Yes, I do have internet connection. But in production environment we will not get internet connection so I cannot choose public repository.
This is for POC at the moment.
Thanks

Follow these directions. They are easier https://www.cloudera.com/documentation/enterprise/6/6.0/topics/poc_run_installer.html
It will setup an embedded postgres DB that is NOT for production.
For CDH installation it would be the same (except the DB page) as when you create your own DBs and point to them.

Those directions start with installing CM server again.

If your production environment will lack internet access I highly recommend that you work with members of your account team and/or infrastructure teams to setup an internal mirror/repository which you can point your installation to. Setting this up now will allow you to be more prepared for later deployments.
You should review this set of documentation. More specifically the documentation related to setting up and using an internal parcel or package repository. Please be advised that the links below are for 6x and they may or may not match the release you intend to deploy.
