Jobs failing when I set compression codec to DefaultCodec?

My hadoop jobs fail if I set org.apache.hadoop.io.compress.DefaultCodec as my mapred.output.compression.codec in Hive 0.13.

I am not able to find reasons.

can you please post the log statement that tells you what the error is ?

The problem was resolved. The mistake was somewhere else.
