Kudu tablet server removal (eviction)

Kudu tablet server removal (eviction)

New Contributor

Hi Team,

We are running kudu version 1.7.0-cdh5.15.0 and we are going to perform some table copy and data delete functions that require use to expand the cluster tablet servers to allow for sufficient storage to complete the table updates. Once complete the old tables will be deleted to reclaim the disk space.

We have been reviewing the most efficient way to remove the tablet servers from the cluster, it appears in 1.7 shutting down the kudu tablet server service and awaiting for the timeout for the following flag follower_unavailable_considered_failed_sec is the best but we have a concern when running with active data updates if this will cause timeouts and therefore job failures in our application.

Would appreciate any advice or experience on alternative methods
