Migrate Cloudera Manager from Embedded to External Database

New Contributor

We have installed Cloudera 5.5. We chose the embedded database during installation. Does anyone have documentation or instructions for migrating the existing database configuratin to a different (new) database (external)?

Is this possible?

Thanks

Hi guys,

Did you manage to solve this? I must also do this migration.

My guess is this one:

- install external PostgreSQL database

- export internal databases via PostreSQL

- import the exported databases via PostgreSQL to the newly installed external db

- reconfigure Cloudera Manager

Please let me know what do you think about it.

Thanks,

D.

Hi, could someone confirm if the above migration steps worked? Any gotchas?

Thanks,

Unless Cloudera has a offical way to do this, dm186036'smethod should work. It' all about migrate database from one DB to antoher then configure cm to use the new DB

You may try configure a lab CM machine to use the external DB with imported data first. I think you can switch back to old internal DB if there is an issue, but you should test it first.
