Need clarity on Hive access from a remote (application database development server) outside hadoop using knox gateway.

Explorer

HI All,

We have a script for copying data from hive server to the remote server which is located in the remote server.

Hadoop is protected using knox so how can we take data from the hadoop cluster, need to create separate hive user for accessing the data in LDAP Knox?

Do we need to provide the username and password in the script for accessing the hadoop hive data using knox.

Please check the following link on how this is supposed to work:

To answer your question, you will need to provide credentials of a user which can be authenticated on LDAP to pass perimeter security via Knox, but you will also need to make sure the user in question has sufficient authorizations to connect to Hive and access objects (usually done via Ranger).
