Nodes with different OS Versions

Hi,

Is it possible to have nodes within the cluster running different versions of Centos?  Would this require any extra steps when upgrading?

Came across this article: https://community.cloudera.com/t5/Cloudera-Manager-Installation/How-to-do-an-OS-upgrade-on-15-nodes-...

Which appears to show how this can be done.

Yes you can. You just need the parcels for both the versions. But you will face an issue when upgrading all CM agents at the same time as CM accepts one URL for upgrading the packages. You can overcome this by manually upgrading the CM Agents on the hosts that have the issue.

@chriswalton007 Hi Chris, i'm unbale to reach the limk, do you mind share the exact steps you managed to overcome this?

Thanks in advance.

@RajeshBodolla What about the CDH parcels, for other extra custom parcels like anaconda and airflow, i will face the same issue.

what about the NameNode and the Mysql?

@Fawze  You can mention multiple parcel links in cloudera manager so it should not be an issue.

How i will choose which parcels to distribute to each node? or it will try
to distribute both parcels on the node and one of them will fail?

We just added the nodes and the correct parcels are downloaded and installed automatically.

so you installed the Cloudera manager agent manually and then the parcels
distributed automatically?

Did you face any issue?

If you install cloudera manager packages and start the agent, it will not distribute the parcels.

The parcels will be distributed only when you add the host to the cluster.

I'm using cloudera manager, once i added the node i need to provide the url
for the cloudera manager packages, once this step finish, an automatic step
kicked to distribute the parcels.
