Not able to start cloudera-scm-server-db with postgresql

Hi Team,

I am trying to start clouder-scm-server-db after installing hadoop with cloudera manager.

[root@hostname ~]# service cloudera-scm-server-db restart
pg_ctl: no server running
DB initialization done.
waiting for server to start.... stopped waiting
pg_ctl: could not start server
Examine the log output.
[root@hostname~]#

When tried to start pg_ctl we are getting below error.

[root@hostname~]# /usr/pgsql-9.4/bin/postgres -c '/usr/pgsql-9.4/bin/pg_ctl start -D /var/lib/pgsql/9.4/data/ -l serverlog'
"root" execution of the PostgreSQL server is not permitted.
The server must be started under an unprivileged user ID to prevent
possible system security compromise. See the documentation for
more information on how to properly start the server.
[root@hostname~]#

Thanks

Kishore

Hi Kishore,

Do these logs show any exceptions?
- /var/log/cloudera-scm-server/db.log
- /var/lib/cloudera-scm-server-db/data/pg_log/

Does the following file have proper settings for PostgreSQL?
/etc/cloudera-scm-server/db.properties
