ODBC connection unsuccessful in Mac when connecting to Hive in HDInsight over Azure!

Explorer

Folks,

I need to connect a mac client to Hive in HDInsights over Azure. Installed Mac ODBC Drivers from [1], and use [2] to configure the ODBC driver. However, the test is failing.

[Hortonworks][HiveODBC](22) Error from the server:connect() failed: Operation Timed Out.

@rmian

It looks like connectivity issues. Operation timed out means that you could not reach the server.

telnet ip or host 10000 can be run to test

Explorer

I can telnet/ssh into the port. It is 1433 for Hive over HDInsight.

sh-3.2# telnet xxx.database.windows.net 1433

Trying aaa.bbb.ccc.107... Connected to xxx.database.windows.net.

Escape character is '^]'.

My bad on port

its 443
