Parcel distro suffixes

Hi,

Please suggest  " Is Parcel distro suffix is fixed in custom parcel" ?  like :

for a Redhat 6 OS system :

MYPARCEL-1.0.0-khirod-01-el6.parcel

Or , I can use any custom disto suffix in the above case .

like :  MYPARCEL-1.0.0-khirod-01-<something_else>.parcel

Kind Regards

Khirod

If the parcel needs to be deployed in rhel 6, you must use the el6 prefix.
And so on for the other platforms. Otherwise CM won't know a valid parcel
exists for the platform the node runs on

The suffix denotes the platform the parcel targets. So el6 is for Red Hat 6 (and CentOS, Oracle Linux etc).

You can model the file names based on the CDH parcels in this URL:

Is there any issue or sideeffect if I choose any different suffix ?

Please suggest.
