Pending Host Assignment when trying Blueprint Deployment on Microsoft Azure

Pending Host Assignment when trying Blueprint Deployment on Microsoft Azure

New Contributor

I am getting Pending Host assignment when i am trying to deploy HDP on Microsoft Azure cloud.

I have installed both Ambari-agent and Ambari-server and my ambari server is up and running. But looking at the log file of ambari-agent i am seeing following error.

My question is that do we need to create specific end point for any port in Azure. Earlier i was not able to open ambari server web ui so i created a end point for ambari webui which has private port as 80 and public port as 8080.

Please let me know the resolution of this?

The error shows:

Server at https://azurenew3858.cloudapp.net:8440 is not reachable

- So can you please check if your ambari HOST (azurenew3858.cloudapp.net) & Port (8440) is accessible from the agent machines?

- Are the host names resolvable through out the cluster instances?

- No firewall restrictions on accessing ambari server port 8440.

Ambari's port "8440" is the Handshake Port for Ambari Agents to Ambari Server. That should be accessible for Agent machines also the ambari server hostname (FQDN)should be resolvable (hostname -f)

- Are you able to do telnet to check the port access:

telnet  azurenew3858.cloudapp.net  8440
telnet  azurenew3858.cloudapp.net  8441

.

Both my ambari-agent and ambari-server are on same host. I am trying on single CentOS based VM on Azure.

hostname -f shows

[root@azurenew3858 rahul]# hostname -f

azurenew3858.cloudapp.net

and i am not able to telnet to azurenew3858.cloudapp.net. It doenot shows anything.

[root@azurenew3858 rahul]# telnet azurenew3858.cloudapp.net 8441

Trying 104.210.145.154...

Are you sure that ambari server has opened the port 8440 & 8441?

Get the Amabri PID

ps -ef | grep AmbariServer

Now try to find out if the port is opened?

netstat -tnlpa | grep 8440
netstat -tnlpa | grep 8441
netstat -tnlpa | grep 8080

OR

netstat -tnlpa | grep $AMBARI_PID

- If you see that the port is not opened then please check the ambari server log to findout anything unusual (ERROR/WARNING)

.

It seems like all the ports are open and listening

[root@azurenew3858 rahul]# netstat -tnlpa | grep 8440

tcp6 0 0 :::8440 :::* LISTEN 45819/java

[root@azurenew3858 rahul]# netstat -tnlpa | grep 8441

tcp6 0 0 :::8441 :::* LISTEN 45819/java

[root@azurenew3858 rahul]# netstat -tnlpa | grep 8080

tcp6 0 0 :::8080 :::* LISTEN 45819/java tcp6 0 0 10.0.0.4:8080 167.219.58.2:58236 ESTABLISHED 45819/java tcp6 0 0 10.0.0.4:8080 167.219.58.2:58239 ESTABLISHED 45819/java tcp6 0 0 10.0.0.4:8080 167.219.58.2:58233 ESTABLISHED 45819/java tcp6 0 0 10.0.0.4:8080 167.219.58.2:58238 ESTABLISHED 45819/java tcp6 0 0 10.0.0.4:8080 167.219.58.2:47011 ESTABLISHED 45819/java tcp6 0 0 10.0.0.4:8080 167.219.58.2:58237 ESTABLISHED 45819/java [root@azurenew3858 rahul]#

I was just thinking if it has to do something with the IPv6.

Also can you please share the "/etc/hosts" file.

Also why do we see "167.219.58.2" and "10.0.0.4" two addresses here?

It shows 10.0.0.4 as inet IP.

do u think by any chance my ambari-agent are not properly installed. Im running both my ambari-agent and ambari-server on same Azure VM. I have followed below steps .

yum install ambari-server

ambari-server setup

ambari-server start

yum install ambari-agent

vi /etc/ambari-agent/conf/ambari-agent.ini

change hostname to azurenew3858.cloudapp.net

ambari-agent start

[root@azurenew3858 ambari-agent]# ambari-agent status Found ambari-agent PID: 55231

ambari-agent running.
