Hi All,
I am newbee in Hadoop. I have installed HDP on Oracle Virtual Box. I tried to start HUE but I am getting this error message
IOError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/usr/lib/hue/logs/access.log'
I followed all the step in https://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/HDP2/HDP-2.4.0/bk_installing_manually_book/content/start_h... and made necessary changes to Hue ini file.
Please let me know how can I solve this problem.

Are you starting the service as the root user?
If so, and still an error, you can set permissions on the log directory to 777 and try it to determine if permissions are the issue:
sudo chmod -R 777 /usr/lib/hue/logs

@Om Shrestha It looks like user "hue" do not have write permission on directory "/usr/lib/hue"
Run following command to set proper permission for user "hue"
sudo chown -R hue:hadoop /usr/lib/hue/logs sudo chmod -R 755 /usr/lib/hue/logs
Hope this helps

Thanks for the response. I tried those options. Now I am getting different error message. I am logging in as root user. Here it is: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/hue/build/env/bin//hue", line 9, in <module> load_entry_point('desktop==2.6.1', 'console_scripts', 'hue')() File "/usr/lib/hue/desktop/core/src/desktop/manage_entry.py", line 41, in entry from desktop import settings, appmanager File "/usr/lib/hue/desktop/core/src/desktop/settings.py", line 208, in <module> conf.initialize(_lib_conf_modules, _config_dir) File "/usr/lib/hue/desktop/core/src/desktop/lib/conf.py", line 588, in initialize conf_data = load_confs(_configs_from_dir(config_dir)) File "/usr/lib/hue/desktop/core/src/desktop/lib/conf.py", line 518, in load_confs for in_conf in conf_source: File "/usr/lib/hue/desktop/core/src/desktop/lib/conf.py", line 498, in _configs_from_dir conf = configobj.ConfigObj(os.path.join(conf_dir, filename)) File "/usr/lib/hue/build/env/lib/python2.6/site-packages/configobj-4.6.0-py2.6.egg/configobj.py", line 1219, in __init__ self._load(infile, configspec) File "/usr/lib/hue/build/env/lib/python2.6/site-packages/configobj-4.6.0-py2.6.egg/configobj.py", line 1302, in _load raise error configobj.ConfigObjError: Parsing failed with several errors. @Om ShresthaIt looks like hue service is not able to parse the configuration file. Can you post the full stack trace from logs?
Also check if the configuration file do not have some syntax issue.

I had download Hortonworks Sandbox with HDP 2.4.
I did this to get into ini file:
[root@sandbox ~]# vi /etc/hue/conf/hue.ini
Here is what i have in ini file: I have attached the code.
