Permission denied while placing input file in HDFS

Permission denied while placing input file in HDFS

New Contributor

I have installed CDH4 and trying cloudera word count example .

I am getting permission denied while placing input file to HDFS.

[cloudera@localhost ~]$ hadoop fs -put   /tmp/Hive-Dataset   /user/cloudera/Example1/input
put: Permission denied: user=cloudera, access=WRITE, inode="/user/cloudera/Example1/input":hdfs:cloudera:drwxr-xr-x

Can help me in solving it,

sudo -u hdfs hadoop fs -chown -R cloudera /user/cloudera

That command should set the permissions correctly for that directory so that you can put your files there.  Currently the directory you are trying to access is owned by the "hdfs" user.
