Connection failed: [Errno 111] Connection refused to abc.def.local:18081

I changed the spark_home to spark2-client which was referring to spark-client in /etc/profile

export SPARK_HOME=/usr/hdp/current/spark2-client

export SPARK_CONF_DIR=/etc/spark2/conf

It worked..!!
