Standard way to recycle cloudera managed hadoop services.

Hi

It looks like supervisord cloudera agent process is controlling command line options for restarting services. We would like to do the following for eg to stop services.

sudo service hadoop-mapreduce-historyserver stop

sudo service hadoop-yarn-resourcemanager stop

sudo service hadoop-yarn-nodemanager stop

What are the variable needs to be set to use the above commands to recycle services.? We have installed Cloudera Manager . We don't want to use the API option to recycle either.

Have a nice day.

Thanks

If you are using Cloudera Manager the best approach is to use CM API. Since Cloudera Manager server monitor the Runtime State of these processes in its database, see "Meanwhile, on the Server…" [1]. Also, in the same blog we elaborate the "Agent Process Supervision in Detail" [1]. Stopping the roles/process outside CM API is possible, but would have underied effect.

Hi

Thanks for the response. Read through the article . For eg ....to stop/start namenode process using  supervisord what would be the command pattern if we decide not to use the API method ?

tree -a /var/run/cloudera-scm-agent/process/879-hdfs-NAMENODE/

Eager to receive responses.

Thanks

Hi

What scenarios you would not want cloudera manager to install cloudera -hadoop ?

Thanks
