Swap Alerts

We have been getting swap alerts on one of our worker nodes; have checked swappiness setting on this particular worker node and, vm.swappiness is set to 1 as recommended. We see these alerts come up on Yarn, Impala and Kudu.

CM – 5.14

Swap Space - 8GB

Physical Memory – 65 GB

OS – Redhat 7.6

Any help /guidance is appreciated.

The Linux kernel does the responsible for swapping in/out memory pages. First step needs to find out if this swapping is due to memory pressure or if there is sufficient system memory avaiable at the time when the swap alert is shown. Please review top output at this time.
