TaskTracker report interval

TaskTracker report interval

New Contributor

In Hadoop, name node and data nodes communicating to each other periodically …. any TaskTracker that fails to report in 10 minutes is assumed to have crashed.  Can I tune/configure the time interval?   If so, where can I change?

Yes, You can change configuration in mapred-default.xml file. And you can refer below parameters for changing values to overcome you problem.

  • mapreduce.jobtracker.expire.trackers.interval : Expert: The time-interval, in miliseconds, after which a tasktracker is declared 'lost' if it doesn't send heartbeats.
  • mapreduce.tasktracker.healthchecker.interval : Frequency of the node health script to be run, in milliseconds
  • mapreduce.task.timeout : The number of milliseconds before a task will be terminated if it neither reads an input, writes an output, nor updates its status string. A value of 0 disables the timeout.

You can also refer below link which has documentation/detail understanding on parameters which you can configure in mapred-default.xml
