Trying to configure Hive to work with Hbase

Trying to configure Hive to work with Hbase

New Contributor

I'm trying to use Hive view to access our Hbase DB in our HDP cluster.

When I go to Hive view the database explorer is empty, what should I do to allow Hbase to appear as one of the DBs available for querying?

I have tried following this guide - http://hortonworks.com/blog/hbase-via-hive-part-1/ but found it a bit unclear and perhaps out dated.

Thanks.

@Yaron Idan

It is not possible to access HBase databases from Hive view. However, you can create Hive tables on HBase tables with Hive-HBase integration. Below is the link for the same:

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/Hive/HBaseIntegration

Hope this helps.

Thanks and Regards,

Thanks,

The document you attached is using an environment variable names $HIVE_SRC, how can I find the value of this envvar? it's not defined when I ssh into the server.
