Unable to connect to Hive Server2 using Beeline

Unable to connect to Hive Server2 using Beeline

New Contributor

I am trying to connect to Hive through Beeline and I get a Invalid status 72 error. No error logs are generated in /var/log/hive. The log files are empty. Please find the error log below.

beeline> !connect jdbc:hive2://localhost:11000/default
scan complete in 9ms
Connecting to jdbc:hive2://localhost:11000/default
Enter username for jdbc:hive2://localhost:11000/default: hive
Enter password for jdbc:hive2://localhost:11000/default: ****
Error: Could not open client transport with JDBC Uri: jdbc:hive2://localhost:11000/default: Invalid status 72 (state=08S01,code=0)
0: jdbc:hive2://localhost:11000/default (closed)>

Please clarify the below doubts.

1. Why is Hive Server running in 11000 port instead shouldn't it be running in 10000?

2. I checked the 'configs' table in scm server using the psql command and got the below result. Am I using the correct credentials or is there any other way to check the Hive username and password.

psql -U scm -W scm -h localhost -p 7432 -c "select attr,value from configs where attr like 'hive_metastore_database%' limit 20;"

Password for user scm:

attr | value

hive_metastore_database_type | postgresql

hive_metastore_database_port | 7432

hive_metastore_database_name | hive

hive_metastore_database_host |

hive_metastore_database_password | hive

Kindly help me to solve the issue. Thanks.
