Super Mentor

@asmarz

We see the cause of failure as following:

Timeout on ttp://public-repo-1.hortonworks.com/ambari/centos7/2.x/updates/2.7.4.0/ambari/ambari-server-2.7.4.0...: (28, 'Operation too slow. Less than 1000 bytes/sec transferred the last 30 seconds')

.

This usually happens due to network connectivity or slow network connections.

Can you please check how much time is it taking to just download the ambari.repo file? Please check if you have any network slowness on the host where AmbariServer binaries are being installed?

Also can you please share the complete output of the below mentioned commands?

# time curl -iLv ttp://public-repo-1.hortonworks.com/ambari/centos7/2.x/updates/2.7.4.0/ambari.repo

Other possibility can be the slowness may be due to the Network Proxy at yum level. So please check if you have defined any network proxy by any chance inside your YUM config "/etc/yum.cnf" (OR) at the "~/.bashrc" files?

# grep 'proxy' ~/.bash_profile
# grep 'proxy' ~/.bashrc
# grep 'proxy' /etc/yum.conf

If you find the network proxy there they try to remove it and then retry.

.

# This is the default, if you make this bigger yum won't see if the metadata
# is newer on the remote and so you'll "gain" the bandwidth of not having to
# download the new metadata and "pay" for it by yum not having correct

# It is esp. important, to have correct metadata, for distributions like
# Fedora which don't keep old packages around. If you don't like this checking
# interupting your command line usage, it's much better to have something
# manually check the metadata once an hour (yum-updatesd will do this).
