Unable to reach Ambari on sandbox port 8080

Unable to reach Ambari on sandbox port 8080

New Contributor

I downloaded the sandbox and can reach Zepplin, Ranger etc, but not Ambari on port 8080 and am getting 'connection refused'. I have tried with the firewall off but this hasn't helped. Any suggestions to help would be great, thanks.

Cheers James

Re: Unable to reach Ambari on sandbox port 8080

@james linehan

What is the URL you are using to connect ?. Is it http://127.0.0.1:8080

did you make sure ambari server is running ?

You can check this by

ssh root@127.0.0.1 -p 2222

ambari-server status

if its not up then start using

ambari-server start

Now refresh the URL.

Hope this helps.

Re: Unable to reach Ambari on sandbox port 8080

@james linehan

1. ssh root@127.0.0.1 -p 2222 [put password default is "hadoop"]

2. ps -aef |grep ambari

3. ambari-server status

3. Check if port is running using - $ netstat -taupen |grep 8080

If you see the service or port not running pls use -

#ambari-server start

or #ambari-server restart

if still it not works pls check logs - /var/log/ambari-server/ambari-server.logs

Re: Unable to reach Ambari on sandbox port 8080

Hi James,

Could you check if the port 8080 is correctly forwarded? Also, if ambari-server service is correctly started?

@james linehan

You can check list of forwarded ports.

Goto VirtualBox --> Machine --> Settings --> Port Forwarding
