Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) in a Hadoop based cluster

Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) in a Hadoop based cluster

New Contributor

I was wondering about the possibility/need of including an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) in a Hadoop based cluster, and if its use is globally accepted or not. I'm sorry if the question is so obvious, but I don't seem to find any related info in the web. The idea is to build a small (one rack) cluster for experimentation purposes.

Thank you in advance!

If you want to mitigage the chance of loosing data it is deffinitly recomended. The problem is does the cost justify the risk. You would need a UPS big enough to give you time to shutdown all the hosts.

I recomend a customer have UPS capacity for all servers. You are spending the mony to have a Enterprise Grade piece of hardware so you should be putting it on Enterprise Grade Power.
