Upgrade HIVE (PART OF HDP UPGRADE)

Hi,

We are planning to upgrade HDP and Ambari and below is our planned upgrade path:

Step 1) Upgrade Ambari to 2.7.0 from 2.6.1

Step 2) Upgrade HDP to 3.0 from 2.6.4

Need clarifications for following:

1) Is above upgrade path valid ?

2) Currently HDP 2.6.4 installed with HIVE version 1.2, if we upgrade HDP to 3.0 it comes with HIVE version 3.1 per component versions mentioned in release notes

Can you confirm if HIVE upgrade is possible from 1.2 to 3.1 ?

The reason we are asking is the documentation mentions below:
"Upgrading Hive in releases earlier than HDP 2.6.5 is not supported"
