What are Different Reasons to Configure Encrypted Communication Between HiveServer2 and Clients?

Why we need to Configure Encrypted Client/Server Communication Using TLS/SSL for HiveServer2. What are the use cases for this scenario.

Also, Please provide how to cofigure it without any issue. I alreadu found some information here: http://www.cloudera.com/documentation/enterprise/latest/topics/sg_hive_encryption.html#concept_tp1_w...

Thanks,

Suri

Hi Suri,

Without TLS encryption the communication between HS2 and the clients is plaintext. This means that it's possible to "listen in" on the communication and access sensitive information. By enabling TLS encryption you can make sure only the intended recipients can access the information. If security is important in your use case, Kerberos authentication should also be enabled so users couldn't impersonate others.

If you follow the documentation you linked, you should be okay, but please make sure you're reading the documentation for the same version as you're using.
