What happens when a node reboots which has Sentry service running on it

What happens when a node reboots which has Sentry service running on it

Contributor

I have installed sentry service on one of my HA name node. Created several roles(Hive databases permissions) using sentry and mapped to groups. What happens when I reboot that name node?

as usually sentry service goes down but

> Can I still read and write hive tables and databases with sentry service down? if Yes how?

>Can I access Hue hive/Impala tables when sentry is down?

What will be the best node to place sentry service?

Hi Naveen,

If you are running sentry service on one of the Name node there may be chances of sentry service going down when that node goes down and obviously I guess you will not be able to access the files and databases. for better service you can install sentry service other than those NN HA nodes and enable HA in sentry.

I hope this link will help you
