What is the difference between Lily in the Cloudera platform and the standalone Lily downloaded from the lilyproject.org? also when using the standalone lily, I communicate with it using the Lily Java API while when working with the lily under Cloudera we are using the HBase Java API, shouldn't we use the Lily Java API when working with Lily Cloudera ?

There is no Lily in CDH. Lily is a product by NGData and Cloudera does not offer Lily or support Lily or depend on Lily. Cloudera Search uses a general purpose reusable subcomponent that Lily also uses, namely the (Lily) HBase Indexer.

In Cloudera Search, the user can use whatever API he likes to insert/update/delete any type of data in HBase, and the (Lily) HBase Indexer enables indexing of that HBase data into Solr.
