What is the suggested way to setup Cloudbreak Deployer in production?

Cloudera Employee

I see that there are two ways to setup Cloudbreak Deployer,

1. Using AWS cloud image.

2. Installing manually on VM.

I would like to know which method is suggested for setting up Production clusters. Are there any known caveats following any specific approach.

Thanks for your time.

hi @kkanchu,

Both ways are supported, but probably the first one is simpler, since it is based on pre-built image which is tested by Cloudbreak team.

Users chose the 2nd method when the first cannot be used. E.g.

  • they would like to use a different Linux distribution
  • some companies have strict policies about what base image can be used and it is easier to install Docker and setup Cloudbreak containers on a VM than going through the complex image approval process
  • is using an own image with certain tooling (e.g monitoring) that is already set up and it is easier to install Docker and setup Cloudbreak containers on a VM than installing and configuring their regular tooling on our base image
