Why do we need to have a "majority" in Zookeeper ?

Why do we need to have a majority in Zookeeper ?

Kindly explain the case of 'two zookeepers'. In the below statement, what is meaning of majority?

"If we have two nodes and one node fails, we don’t have majority as well, since one out of two is not a majority."
