Zeppelin wont start and cant access Root in azure...

Zeppelin wont start and cant access Root in azure...

New Contributor

Hi, complete newbie here, be gentle, I'm very new at all this :)

Running hortonworks sandbox 2.4, on Azure. Accessing through SSH in putty.

I tried to complete tutorial machine learning in spark, and ran this command to load notebooks into zeppelin

curl -sSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/hortonworks-gallery/zeppelin-notebooks/master/update_all_notebooks... | sudo -u zeppelin -E sh

Ever since though, my Zeppelin refuses to start. So thats my first problem!

So I thought, I'd manually try to go in and run the component lines of the script. However, it says I dont have permissions.

Therefore, I'm assuming I need to run them as root? But whenever I try to run:

sudo root

I'm asked for a password, and I've tried everything I would use, but nothing seems to work...

I'm now hitting a complete brick wall, and as I'm a total noob I basically have no idea what to try next.

Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

Hi,

try to sudo -i from your machine and then the following command

curl -sSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/hortonworks-gallery/zeppelin-notebooks/master/update_all_notebooks... | sudo -u zeppelin -E sh.

Hi Nitin,

Thanks for your reply. When I try your suggestion, I'm asked for a password:

[sudo] password for username:

I just don't know what the password is for this.. is there a standard sudo password for azure?

No they dont have any root password but you can try this,

sudo su -

Enter password for your user from which you are going to be root.
