a lap around apache spark - root login,

a lap around apache spark - root login,

New Contributor

Hi

I have beet trying to go through spark tutorials on azure-based sandbox. my usename in for the sandbox is vijays29631, it seems individual users don't have permissions to run spark programs on the box. The tutorial also assumes the user logged in as root.

Is there any workaround for a user to complete all the spark tutorials logged as him/herself, or does one need the root and spark password, as shown in the tutorial lesson.

Appreciate your response,

Vijay

Hi @vijay singh , you can try switching to root user for now. Type:

sudo su

If it asks for the password, you might have to change the password for root. Type this command to change the password:

sudo passwd root

It will ask you twice to confirm the password, and after this, you can try again sudo su
