cluster user is not showing in Ranger

Expert Contributor

Hello,

I am using Hortonworks Data cloud in AWS. My cluster consist of one master node and one worker node. when I create user from CLI or from ambari, the user is not showing in ranger. Do I need to perform any special configuration for this ?

Appreciate your help!

Regards,

Heta

Ranger provide multiple way to sync user to ragner

1.User Sync for UNIX

2. User Sync for LDAP/AD

If you are creating user in unix node and expect this to show up in Ranger. Make sure to create this user on the node where ranger-usersync service is running. not on the ambari server..here seems like you are creating user on Ambari server node and expecting to get this updated in Ranger which will not work.

ranger-usersync daemon read the /etc/passwd file and if new entry found there then it update in ranger database respectively.
