flume-ng service script

flume-ng service script

Rising Star

I was following https://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/HDP2/HDP-2.3.2/bk_installing_manually_book/content/install... to install flume on one of the cluster node.

apt-get install flume-agent #This installs init scripts

Even after installing flume-agent package it doesn't install /etc/init.d/flume-ng script. Anyone knows whats wrong here.

Thanks

How do I use

/usr/hdp/current/flume-server/etc/init.d/flume-agent

with service command to start/stop flume agent. Do I need to copy to /etc/init.d/

Check configuring flume and then starting flume.

https://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/HDP2/HDP-2.3.2/bk_installing_manually_book/content/configu...

https://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/HDP2/HDP-2.3.2/bk_installing_manually_book/content/startin...

you basically have to run following command once you have your conf file.

/usr/hdp/current/flume-server/bin/flume-ng agent -c /etc/flume/conf -f /etc/flume/conf/ flume.conf -n agent

or if flume is configured as a service (run "chkconfig" to see if it's configured as a service), then simple use

service flume-agent start
