how to pause / halt / hold on , the auto correction of under replicated blocks , for specific time period

New Contributor

Hi ,

I came to know that if there are any under-replicated blocks, it will be taken care automatically by HDFS to match up with the replication factor.

Question is, If the disk fails,

1) how soon this process of identifying the under replicated block will kick off ,

2) When hdfs will kick off the process to replication of under-replicated blocks?

3) Is there any way to halt the auto-correction of under replication blocks. What parameters we need to set.

We don't want to kick off the process of auto-correction ,immediately. We would like to start this procedure, say after 5 hrs from the time of disk failure. How to configure it.

Thanks

JJ
