phoenix not returning the versions

phoenix not returning the versions

I created a phoenix table usig sqlline.py and i am in HDP 2.4.

CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS test1 ( id integer not null primary key, name varchar(10), address varchar(10)) DATA_BLOCK_ENCODING='NONE',VERSIONS=5;

I updated a row with a new value to the column. But when i try a select statement on the table

select * from test1;

i dont see all the versions. i only see the latest version. Is there any other way to query all the versions or is my create table statement correct with respect to creating multiple versions.

@ARUNKUMAR RAMASAMY

I believe that this is work in progress and on the phoenix road map https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/PHOENIX-590

Re: phoenix not returning the versions

Hi @ARUNKUMAR RAMASAMY, as @Neeraj Sabharwal mentioned, Phoenix does not yet expose multiple row/cell versions. However, if you write with Phoenix and then use the HBase Java API (or HBase shell), you'll be able to access all versions and their timestamps.
