question about backup steps for SolR 5.2 <== note the version

New Contributor

Hi,

I have identified the following actions from backuping a SolR collection like "gettingstarted" :

1) curl 'http://<some node>:8983/solr/gettingstarted/update?commit=true'

=> to make latest received docs immediately searchable

2) curl 'http://<some node>/solr/gettingstarted/update?optimize=true&maxSegments=99999&waitFlush=true'

=> to force fync segments to disk

3) curl 'http://<some node>:8983/solr/gettingstarted/replication?command=backup&name=<BACKUP_NAME>&location=<BACKUP_LOCATION>'

=> to write HDFS SolR data to an (external) location

My undertanding is that with 5.2 :

a) for (1) one 'curl' call is OK for all the cluster, as this operation is at collection level

b) for (2) one 'curl' call is OK for all the cluster, as this operation is at collection level

c) for (3) one has to do one 'curl' call per SolrCore (so, one call per Solr node), as this operation is at core level (this is my understanding as the 5.2 doc says: "Making and Restoring Backups of SolrCores")

Is there anyone able to tell me if my understanding is correct, or not, for (a), (b) + (c) ?

Thanks.

Best regards.
