starting HDP sandbox with Atlas-Ranger integration

starting HDP sandbox with Atlas-Ranger integration

New Contributor

Hi. I've downloaded the HDP sandbox with the integration of Apache Atlas and Apache Ranger from http://hortonworks.com/blog/the-next-generation-of-hadoop-based-security-data-governance/ but the VM doesn't start. After the normal start up, it gets stuck in a CentOS login screen

In the same installation of Virtual Box I'm able to start the HDP sandbox 2.4 without any problems.

If you reached login screen, the sandbox is already up. Your first screen shot where it says about 53% done is because the services are running in the background. While you are in that screen, you can still go to ambari UI (localhost:8080) and see that status. But once you reach login screen, you already had your sandbox up and you can continue working by following those tutorials.

Hi @Rui Lopes

Strucking on login screen is not a issue/problem. It means your Sandbox is now up with respective services and now you can proceed with further tutorials to explore Atlas and Ranger.

I will suggest to follow the tutorials. This is the best way to start after you download the sandbox.

Ravi and Sagar summed it up correctly. Please wait for the login screen to appear in CentOS screen, it takes a while for all services to be started using Ambari..
