When Kerberos is enabled you should use SASL for encryption instead of SSL.

The page below explains how to configure it for the Kerberos and non-Kerberos case:

http://www.cloudera.com/content/cloudera/en/documentation/core/latest/topics/sg_hive_encryption.html

To configure the Kerberos case through Cloudera Manager, do the following:

  1. Open the Cloudera Manager Admin Console and navigate to the Hive service.
  2. Click the Configuration tab.
  3. Select Scope > HiveServer2.
  4. In the Search field, type hive-site to show the HiveServer2 Advanced Configuration Snippet (Safety Valve) for hive-site.xml.
  5. Enter the hive-site.xml snippet from the documentation page above into the text box for this setting.
  6. Save and restart the Hive service.
