use of LVM for root partition

Contributor

I know that for hadoop is better to have regular partitions and not use LVM's for the data and applications but, is it ok to use LVM for just the root partition?

Re: use of LVM for root partition

CM and CDH all write their logs to /var by default. So if you're able
to avoid hosting /var on the LVM volumes or change the location where
CM and CDH save their logs, you should be fine.
