1. Even though, I installed ambari on AWS/EC2, it is working for testing purpose. but our company need to install hdp/ambari without internet access.
2. I am not familiar with http so I think this would be my question before I install ambari without internet with AWS/EC2.
Basically , with AWS/EC2, ambari need to be accessed by http://aws_masternode_id:8080, so this is public ip, if need install without internet, URL should be private ip here, right? then how can I access http://aws_masternode_private_id:8080 here?
Please let me know if any confusion here.
please help me here.
Ok I don't completely get the question, you can access ambari with a hostname or IP address. So if you cannot access it outside of your AWS cluster you would need to have an AWS image with UI and access the IP address of your ambari node from there. Disclaimer I never used it in AWS but I setup a couple clusters without internet at all in data centers. And I never encountered a problem of accessing ambari from a machine in the internal network.
All of my installs in EC2 was done without internet as production systems cant talk to internet for security reasons.
Please follow this step by step http://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/Ambari-126.96.36.199/bk_Installing_HDP_AMB/content/_using_a_local...
You can setup local repo in one of the server in EC2 and use that for installing the cluster.
Nope, I dont have any info on hdp/ambari without internet access, I stuck on httpd installation. the info in the HDP doc is too general and like to apatch http server setup.
this is what I did:
yum install httpd -y
service httpd start
chkconfig httpd on
the master node internal IP is ip-172-31-41-123.us-west-2.compute.internal
http://ip-172-31-41-123.us-west-2.compute.internal:8787/ambari --- got error here, not sure if this is right port number either
so I think I need to configure the httpd.conf file, have no idea how and which one to modify. I guess may be hotstname:80,
Thank you very much for asking. you do care :)
I will try reinstall without internet access again and let you know what is going on.
Hi @Robin Dong,
I think your company having security policy using against external (public) http address, there is multiple solution for you.
1) Create one graphical system on AWS and access it remotely for http urls
2) Check with AWS if they are providing virtual private network for your company
3) You can install hortonwork cluster in company premises
I just wrote long article and when I tried to retrieve some other info(like copy a name etc) and came back, I lost everything which I spend 30 min to write.
HDP development team need fix it. like ask question 'do you want to save your reply before you leave?' or 'everything would be gone if you leave'... to remind user to save their reply etc.
this happened to me many times, only this time I feel like to write you to get development team attention.
BTW, I did the same feed back to Cassandra development team for their bugs on their web training site.
However, HDP support is the best of all so far. take no time to replay with multiple answers. I love it.
OK, it looked good.
[root@ip-172-31-41-122 yum.repos.d]# ambari-server status Using python /usr/bin/python2.6 Ambari-server status Ambari Server running Found Ambari Server PID: 1924 at: /var/run/ambari-server/ambari-server.pid
the only problem I have now is I can't use EC2 internal ip, I only can use the public IP to start ambari installation.
I only get this step in the snapshot, I didnt do any steps after this. any advise?
