why permission of one of the user folders has changed while performing Ambari HDP upgrade from version 2.3.4.7 to 2.4.2.0?

Contributor

we used to login from a user called ec2user in Ambari Ubuntu cluster; while doing Ambari HDP upgrade from 2.3.4.7 to 2.4.2.0, the permission of the folder /home/ec2user/ gets changed. It became accumulo:hadoop from ec2user:ec2user. Although we have a workaround of it and we manually went to all nodes via console and changed its permission to ec2user:ec2user. Why is the permission changed automatically? Kindly help.

@hardik desai

What is the version of Ambari you are running ? This should not happen really as Ambari/HDP has nothing to do with ec2 user. Can you check the output of below command on ambari server node and see if you find /home/ec2user in the output -

$grep -i chown /var/lib/ambari-agent/data/* |grep /home

@Sagar Shimpi the version of ambari is 2.4.2.0. You are precisely right here that user has nothing to do with Ambari/HDP.
