cloudera manager admin console won't start or is inaccessible via http

New Contributor

Greetings,

I am trying to install Cloudera by going through the instructions posted here:

http://www.cloudera.com/content/cloudera-content/cloudera-docs/CM4Ent/latest/Cloudera-Manager-Instal...

However, I cannot browse to the cloudera manager admin console.  I used http://<my ubuntu virtual machine IP>:7180, but Google chrome could not load the page.  I did a netstat on the ubuntu VM, and saw it is listening on 12112:

unix 2 [ ACC ] STREAM LISTENING 12112 /var/run/cloudera-scm-server-db/.s.PGSQL.7432

But when I substituted the 12112 for the 7180 in the URL, that also did not work.

I am connecting to the Ubuntu virtual machine over VPN, and am assuming that browsing to the Cloudera admin app on this machine from a Chrome running on my Windows 7 should be a non-issue.

What else can I investigate? Thank you.
