We're pleased to announce the release of Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) Private Cloud Base 7.1.7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) and Cloudera Manager version 7.6.1. This is the first service pack we’ve released for CDP Private Cloud Base, and with it we announce that CDP Private Cloud Base 7.1.7 has been designated a Long Term Supported (LTS) release.
The LTS release provides a stable version of the platform to be supported for 4 years. There will be periodic cumulative hotfixes released to address any vulnerabilities or bug fixes to ensure this version remains secure, however, there won’t be any major changes or new features that require significant testing. This enables customers with complex cluster implementations or workloads supporting critical business operations that need extensive testing to upgrade with confidence to a version of CDP Private Cloud Base that will remain stable for longer. Customers on LTS need only upgrade when the next LTS version is released.
Customers looking to utilize the latest feature set and innovations that Cloudera releases on CDP should consider upgrading to our regular Feature Release cycle. Feature Releases are released more frequently and are typically supported for 18 months.
Service Pack 1 contains all the hotfixes from previously released cumulative hotfixes as well as additional CVE, security updates, critical bug fixes, and minor certifications. The full list of updates in Service Pack 1 includes:
CDH and HDP customers should upgrade to CDP Private Cloud Base for improved enterprise data management capabilities and new platform innovations, and with this LTS release, a stable version that will be supported through to August 2025 (see Support Lifecycle Policy).
